Early Life and Career
Victor Golovatenco, a Moldovan footballer, was born and raised in the footballing city of Chisinau. He began his footballing journey at the renowned "Buicani" football school. His promising talent soon led him to join the "Victoria" youth team.
Departure from Moldova
Seeking to advance his career, Golovatenco caught the attention of Ukrainian powerhouse FC Chornomorets Odessa. However, he opted to return to Moldova and continue his development on home soil. In 2007, he was loaned out to Russian club FC Khimki.
Russian Citizenship and Success
On June 24, 2008, Golovatenco received Russian citizenship, opening up new opportunities for his footballing career. He joined FC Kuban Krasnodar in 2010, where he made an immediate impact. In his debut season, he played a vital role as the team's captain, leading them to victory in the Russian First Division. His impressive performances earned him recognition and the "For Will and Character" award at the club's end-of-season ceremony.
Later Career and International Debut
After leaving Kuban, Golovatenco embarked on a journey that saw him play for several clubs, including Alania Vladikavkaz, Sibir Novosibirsk, and Zaria Balti. He also established himself as a key figure in the Moldovan national team, making his debut in 2004 and earning over 20 caps. Alongside Alexander Epureanu and Igor Armas, he formed a formidable defense for his country.
