Victor Jaclard: A Revolutionary and Communard

Victor Jaclard was a French journalist, revolutionary, and a participant in the Paris Commune. He was also the husband of the Russian revolutionary Anna Jaclard.

Revolution and Commune

As a blanquist revolutionary, Jaclard played an active role in the defense of the Paris Commune. However, after its fall, he was arrested. With the help of Anna's sister Sofia Kovalevskaya and her husband Vladimir Kovalevsky, Jaclard managed to escape.

Exile and Return

Jaclard spent some time in exile in Switzerland and then moved to the Russian Empire in 1874. In 1880, he was allowed to return to his homeland.
