Early Career and Rise through Swedish RanksVictor Nilsson Lindelöf was born in Västerås, Sweden, on July 17, 1994. He began his footballing journey at the academy of IK Västerås before making his debut for the senior team in 2010. With Lindelöf in defense, Västerås earned promotion to the second division. In 2011, he made his Superettan debut with the club.
Move to Benfica and Domestic Success
In 2012, Lindelöf transferred to Portuguese giants Benfica. Initially playing for the reserve team, he made his Primeira Liga debut on May 10, 2014, against Porto. That same season, he played a key role in Benfica winning both the league title and the Portuguese Cup. In February 2016, he scored his first goal for the club against Paços de Ferreira.
During the 2016/17 season, Lindelöf became an integral part of Benfica's starting lineup, securing a third Primeira Liga championship. His performances caught the attention of some of Europe's top clubs.
Transfer to Manchester United
On June 10, 2017, Manchester United announced an agreement with Benfica for the transfer of Lindelöf, subject to a medical and contract signing. The transfer fee amounted to €35 million plus €10 million in potential bonuses. On June 14, Lindelöf signed a four-year contract with United.
He made his United debut in the UEFA Super Cup match against Real Madrid on August 8, 2017. Since then, he has established himself as a reliable defender for the Red Devils.
International Career
Lindelöf's international career began with the Swedish youth team, where he played a pivotal role in their victory at the 2015 UEFA European Under-21 Championship. He made his senior international debut in a friendly against Turkey in March 2016.
In the summer of 2016, Lindelöf was part of Sweden's squad for the European Championship in France. He featured in matches against Ireland, Italy, and Belgium. On October 10, 2016, he scored his first goal for Sweden in a World Cup qualifying match against Bulgaria.
