An Inspiring Journey: Viktoria Spartz
Early Life and EducationViktoria Spartz was born on October 1, 1978, in Nosivka, Chernihiv Oblast, Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic. She spent her early years there before moving to Chernihiv, where she completed high school. Spartz continued her education at the Kyiv National Economic University named after Vadym Hetman.
Emigration to the United States
In 2000, Spartz immigrated to the United States, where she pursued a Master's degree in Professional Accounting from Indiana University. She then embarked on an academic career, teaching at Indiana University.
Business and Government Experience
Spartz gained extensive experience in both business and government sectors. She worked in various capacities, culminating in the position of Chief Financial Officer at the Indiana Prosecuting Attorney's Council.
Entry into Politics
In September 2017, Spartz was elected to the Indiana State Senate. She replaced retiring Senator Luke Kenley, defeating six other candidates.
Leadership and Service
As a State Senator, Spartz served as the Republican Caucus Chair for Hamilton County. Her commitment to public service extended beyond elected office, as she actively participated in the community.
Congressional Trailblazer
In 2020, Spartz was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives from Indiana's 5th Congressional District, running on a platform of "Stopping Socialism." She became the first ethnic Ukrainian woman elected to Congress, assuming office in January 2021.
