Early Life and Education

Victor Korzh was born on August 3, 1957, in Kharkiv, Ukraine, to renowned philological scholars. His father, Petro Korzh, fought in World War II and later became a linguistics professor and dean at Kharkiv National University. His mother, Natalia Korzh, was a distinguished professor who spent five decades at the same university, contributing to the revitalization of classical philology.

Korzh graduated from Kharkiv Medical Institute in 1981 with a degree in medicine. He later obtained a second degree in physical education and sports from the Kharkiv branch of Kyiv State Institute of Physical Culture. He earned a PhD in pedagogy and a doctorate in sports medicine.

Career in Medicine and Sports

Following his medical training, Korzh worked as a physician at Kharkiv's 27th Clinical Hospital. From 1983 to 1985, he served as Chief Physician at the "Dynamo" Physical and Sports Dispensary. In 1985, he became Deputy Chairman of the Kharkiv Regional Council of "Dynamo."

Korzh's career was closely intertwined with the esteemed "Dynamo" Sports Society of Ukraine. He held various leadership positions within the organization, including:

Vice President of JSC "Investor" (1994-1995)

First Deputy Chairman of the Kharkiv Regional Council of "Dynamo" (1995-1997)

First Deputy Chairman of the Central Council of "Dynamo" (1997-2005)

President of the Gymnastics Federation of Ukraine
Vice President of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine

In 2010, Korzh was elected Chairman of the Central Council of "Dynamo" and Vice President of the National Olympic Committee. He currently holds the position of First Deputy Chairman of "Dynamo" and Vice President of both the National Olympic Committee and the Ukrainian Biathlon Federation.

Political Career

Korzh's political journey began in 2006 as a member of the Party of Regions. He was elected to the Verkhovna Rada (Ukrainian Parliament) for the 5th term (April-December 2006) and the 6th term (from November 2007). During his tenure, he served as Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Healthcare and Chairman of the Subcommittee on Physical Culture and Sports.

In 2006-2007, Korzh held the position of Minister of Ukraine for Family, Youth, and Sports. Subsequently, he was appointed Deputy Chairman of the Kyiv City State Administration in 2013.

Personal Life

Victor Korzh is married and has two children.
