Viktor Tsekalo: A Soviet and Ukrainian Actor and Comedian
Early Life and FamilyViktor Yevgenyevich Tsekalo was born on May 7, 1956, in Kyiv, Ukraine, to a family of engineers. His father, Yevgeny Borisovich Tsekalo, was Ukrainian, while his mother, Elena Leonidovna Volkova, was Jewish. Viktor has a younger brother, Alexander, who is a popular showman and producer.
Education and Military Service
Viktor graduated from the acting faculty of the Karpenko-Karyi Kyiv Institute of Theater Arts. After graduation, he served in the army for 23 years. During his service, he experienced severe hazing and had to undergo months of treatment after being discharged. He subsequently enrolled in the directing faculty of GITIS.
Theater Career
Viktor worked in the Vinnytsia Philharmonic and the Odessa Philharmonic. From 1980 to 2000, he performed in various Kyiv theaters, including the Kyiv Variety Theater, the Golden Gate Theater, the Shtern Jewish Theater, and the Kyiv Academic Left Bank Theater on the Dnieper. Since 2000, he has been a member of the Kyiv Bravo Theater.
Television and Comedy
Viktor's television career includes hosting and creating popular shows such as "Golden Goose," "White Raven," and "I Raised a Monument to Myself." He is also known for his comedic performances.
Personal Life
Viktor has been married three times and divorced twice due to his wives' alcohol abuse. He has an adult daughter, Maria Tsekalo, who lives in the United States and works in the entertainment industry.
