Biography of Victoria Tigipko

Victoria Tigipko (formerly Lopatecka) was born on August 17, 1973, in Kiev, Ukraine. She comes from a family with a military musician and a speech therapist doctor as parents. Victoria graduated with honors from Kiev School No. 191 in 1990 and later in 1996, she obtained a degree in "International Economic Relations and Law" from the Kiev Institute of National Economy (now known as the Kyiv National Economic University) with a red diploma.

Continuing her education, Victoria studied financial management and international insurance at the University of Vienna and the Vienna University of Economics in Austria. She also completed the Executive Education program at the University of California, Berkeley. Besides her native Ukrainian and Russian languages, Victoria is fluent in English, German, French, and Italian.

Early Career and Entrepreneurship

Victoria Tigipko started earning money as a translator at an international exhibition while still in the 9th grade. She began her professional career as the youngest broker at the Ukrainian Universal Commodity Exchange and worked as a simultaneous translator from English in the banking school of the International Management Institute (IMI). In 1996, Victoria founded her first company, which grew and evolved over time. Her company became the largest dealer of the German company "Karcher" (Alfred Kärcher GmbH & Co. KG) in Ukraine and the third largest in the CIS. The company specialized in the design, construction, and supply of specialized industrial equipment.

Despite being in a predominantly male-dominated business environment, Victoria Tigipko always felt confident. She believes that only the strongest survive, but moral principles should never be disregarded.

Current Endeavors

Victoria Tigipko is not one to rest on her laurels and firmly believes that the most interesting things lie ahead. She sees the future in new technologies, which is why her main focus is currently on investing in innovative internet projects. She is currently the Managing Director of the venture fund TA Venture, the General Partner of the internet startup business incubator Growth Up, and the organizer of the IDCEE "Investor Day. Internet Technologies and Innovations" forum. Under her leadership, a team of over 200 people works.

Hobbies and Achievements

Victoria Tigipko's hobby of watching movies turned into a significant socio-cultural event in 2010 when she organized and hosted the first Odessa International Film Festival as its president. In the same year, she was ranked 13th in the "100 Most Influential Women in Ukraine" ranking and was also included in the list of the "25 Most Successful Business Ladies in Ukraine."

In her leisure time, Victoria enjoys watching arthouse films, listening to jazz, practicing yoga, and skiing. She is an art collector focusing on contemporary art and makes sure not to miss any significant international art forums. In her childhood, Victoria had a serious passion for music and graduated with honors from the G.L. Zhukovsky Kiev Children's Art School No. 6, where she studied guitar.

Victoria is married to the politician Sergey Tigipko, who is the Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine and the leader of the Strong Ukraine party. They have three children together: Timofey (born 2002), Anastasia (born 2005), and Leontiy (born 2008).
