Biography of Vince Edwards
Vince Edwards was an American actor, director, and singer, best known for his role as Dr. Ben Casey in the television series of the same name. He was born in Brooklyn, New York, to Italian immigrant parents Vincento Zoino and Julia Zoino. Growing up, Edwards had six siblings, including a twin brother.

During his school years, Edwards excelled in swimming and was part of the school team. He received a sports scholarship to attend Ohio State University, where he continued his swimming career and even won the United States National Championships. After graduating from Ohio State, Edwards pursued a career in acting and enrolled in the American Academy of Dramatic Arts.

In 1950, Edwards signed a contract with Paramount Pictures and made his big-screen debut in the film "Mr. Universe." It was during this time that he adopted the stage name "Vince Edwards." The following year, he appeared in the film "Hiawatha." However, these early roles did not bring him much recognition.
Edwards gained popularity for his portrayal of Dr. Ben Casey in the medical drama series that aired from 1961 to 1966. The show made him a true star. At the height of his fame, Edwards also pursued a music career and released several albums that achieved moderate success.
After the series ended, Edwards returned to the big screen and took on significant roles, such as in the 1968 war drama "The Devil's Brigade." He continued to make appearances in both films and television, including the original version of the popular series "Battlestar Galactica."
In 1988, Edwards reprised his role as Ben Casey in the film "The Return of Ben Casey." His last role was in the 1995 film "The Fear." Shortly after filming, Edwards was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. He passed away a year later and was buried in Culver City, California.
