His mother was a journalist and writer, while his stepfather was a writer and researcher of Ural literature. In 1932, the family relocated to Sverdlovsk (now Yekaterinburg).
Artistic Training and Collaborations
Volovich's artistic training began at the Sverdlovsk Art School, which he graduated from in 1948. He subsequently collaborated with the Sredneuralyetskoye Book Publishing House, creating book covers for notable authors such as Nikolai Kushtum and Boris Dizhur.
Literary Illustrations and Stylistic Evolution
Volovich gained acclaim for his illustrations of medieval literature, including "The Tale of Igor's Campaign," "Richard III," and "The Romance of Tristan and Isolde."
