Early Life and Education

Elsa Lindfors was born in Uppsala, Sweden, to Karin Emilia Therese Dymling and Axel Torsten Lindfors. She pursued acting at the Royal Dramatic Theatre School in Stockholm, quickly gaining recognition in her native country.

Hollywood Career

In 1946, Lindfors signed a contract with Warner Bros. and relocated to Hollywood, performing under the name Viveca Lindfors. Over her career, she appeared in over a hundred films, including "Night Unto Night," "No Sad Songs for Me," "Dark City," "King of Kings," "Creepshow," and "Stargate." She collaborated with renowned actors such as Ronald Reagan, Jeffrey Hunter, Charlton Heston, Lizabeth Scott, and Errol Flynn.

Television Success

Lindfors also had a successful television career, notably starring in the NBC spy drama "Five Fingers" with David Hedison and the ABC show "Life Goes On," for which she won an Emmy Award.

Awards and Recognition

In 1962, Lindfors earned the Silver Bear for Best Actress at the Berlin Film Festival for her performance in Tad Danielewski's "No Exit," sharing the award with Rita Gam.

Personal Life

Lindfors was married four times, with her last marriage dissolving in 1970. She had three children: two sons from her first and third marriages and a daughter from her second marriage.

Later Years and Death

Lindfors taught at the School of Visual Arts in New York City before returning to Sweden to participate in the production "In Search of Strindberg." She passed away at the age of 74 due to rheumatoid arthritis and was buried in Sweden.
