Appointment to Deputy Director of the FSB
On March 6, 2006, Vladimir Bulavin was appointed Deputy Director of the Federal Security Service (FSB) of Russia, as well as the head of the National Anti-Terrorist Committee, by decree of the President of the Russian Federation.
Early Life and Education
Vladimir Bulavin was born on February 11, 1953 in Lipetsk Oblast. He holds a higher education degree, having graduated with honors in 1975 from the Moscow Institute of Railway Engineers, specializing in "Automation and Telemechanics."
Career in Engineering and Security
Following his graduation, Bulavin worked as an engineer and designer at the Pavlovsk Engineering Plant "Voskhod" from August 1975 to July 1977. In August 1977, he joined the organs of state security.
In 1979, he completed a two-year training course for operational staff, specializing in foreign languages, at the Higher Red Banner School of the KGB of the USSR. Subsequently, he was assigned to operational work in the KGB Administration for the Gorky Oblast, where he served for the entirety of his subsequent career.
Rise to Leadership
In July 1992, Bulavin became the head of the SMB-UFSB-UFSB of the Russian Federation for the Nizhny Novgorod Oblast. On January 27, 2001, he was appointed Chairman of the Council of Heads of FSB Bodies in the Volga Federal District.
Academic Qualifications
Bulavin earned a PhD in Law in 1999, defending a dissertation entitled "National Security of Modern Russia."
Personal Life
