Oleksandr Holovko: Legendary Defender and Coach

Early Life and Playing Career

Oleksandr Holovko was born in Zaporizhzhia, Ukrainian SSR, on January 6, 1964. He began his football career with local club Kolos Nikopol before joining the prestigious FC Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk in 1982. As a defender, Holovko played an integral role in Dnipro's success, winning the Soviet Top League title in 1986 and the Soviet Cup in 1987.

International Career

Holovko made his international debut for the Ukrainian national team in 1995, earning three caps. His debut came in a UEFA Euro 1996 qualifying match against Croatia.

Coaching Career

Holovko retired from playing in 1999 and transitioned into coaching. He initially led the reserve team of FC Kryvbas, before taking charge of the Ukraine U-20 national team in August 2013.
