Vladimir Grinin: Prominent Businessman and Politician
Early Life and EducationVladimir Grinin was born on December 8, 1955, in the village of Kebraty in the Perm region. After graduating from the Ural Polytechnical College in 1975, he worked as an electrician and an electrical fitter in Sverdlovsk.
Career in Metallurgy and Railways
In the 1980s, Grinin joined the civil engineering department of the Novosibirsk Railway. Following his graduation from the Siberian Metallurgical Institute in 1988, he became the head of this department.
Entry into Business
In 1999, Grinin, along with business partner Mikhail Fedyaev, acquired the Chernikovets coal mine after a corporate dispute. He also collaborated with Vadim Varshavsky, the owner of the Russian Coal company.
Establishment of Siberian Business Union
In 2004, Grinin and Fedyaev founded the holding company, "Siberian Business Union." The company quickly grew and gained significant influence in the coal and energy sectors.
Political Career
Grinin was elected as a member of the Russian State Duma in 2007 and 2011, representing the United Russia party. He served as the Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Transport.
Personal Life and Wealth
Grinin is married with four children. He has been recognized as one of Russia's wealthiest businessmen, ranking 42nd on the Forbes list in 2012 with an estimated net worth of $2 billion.
