Biography of Vladimir Khoroshilov

Vladimir Alexandrovich Khoroshilov was a bomber pilot, Major General of Aviation, and a Hero of the Soviet Union. He was born into a working-class family and was of Russian descent. Khoroshilov joined the Red Army in 1932 and completed his military training to become a pilot in 1933. He became a member of the Communist Party in 1938.

During the Soviet-Finnish War, Khoroshilov served as the commander of a squadron in the 48th Bomber Aviation Regiment of the 18th Air Force of the 7th Army on the Northwestern Front. He successfully completed 45 combat missions bombing enemy forces. On March 21, 1940, he was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union and the Gold Star Medal.

Khoroshilov continued his military service during the Great Patriotic War, participating in various fronts including the Southern, Southwestern, Transcaucasian, 2nd Ukrainian, and 4th Ukrainian fronts.

In 1950, he completed advanced officer training courses. Khoroshilov retired as a Major General of Aviation in 1970. After his military career, he worked as a senior engineer for the State Supply Committee of the Ukrainian SSR. He lived in Kiev.

Vladimir Khoroshilov is buried at the Baikove Cemetery in Kiev.
