Biography of Vladimir Khorunzhy
Vladimir Anatolievich Khorunzhy, an American and Ukrainian film producer and composer, was born on September 19, 1949, in Kyiv. He graduated from the Special Music School of the Kyiv Conservatory. His first musical compositions were written in 1962.
Early Career and Jazz
In 1968, Vladimir began his professional career in jazz. He performed at numerous jazz festivals in the Soviet Union. In the 1970s, he worked as a pianist, arranger, and conductor of the pop-symphonic orchestra of the Ukrainian Radio and Television. From 1977 to 1981, he worked in Hungary as a jazz musician, composer, and arranger. He performed at prestigious international jazz festivals during this time.
Move to the United States
Vladimir moved to the United States in 1981. From 1981 to 1985, he lived and worked in New York City, performing in the city's most prestigious jazz clubs alongside world-renowned artists such as Omar Hakim, George Benson, Michal Urbaniak, Urszula Dudziak, Marcus Miller, and Victor Bailey. He also composed music for films, commercials, and recordings. Since 1985, he has been living and working in Los Angeles, continuing his jazz career.
Film Music and Production
Vladimir has written music for over 40 Hollywood films. He has been producing films, animated movies, and TV shows in the United States since 1990. In 2006, he started producing Ukrainian film projects as well. In 2009, he founded the production studio "inQ."
