Biography of Vladimir Kadenko
Vladimir Kadenko is a writer, poet, translator, and songwriter. He was born on July 29, 1953, and currently resides in Kiev, Ukraine. He graduated from Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv in 1981, where he studied philology.
Early Career and Writing
Kadenko began his career working as an instructor-methodologist of children's tourism at the Kiev Children's Tourist Station. He started writing songs based on his own poetry in 1969. He has participated in various tourist expeditions to the Eastern Sayan Mountains, the Far East, the Urals, the Pamir Mountains, and the Caucasus.
Literary Achievements
Kadenko is the laureate of the Literary Treasury Prize of the Union of Writers of Ukraine (poetry) and the International Literary Prize "Height" (prose). He has released several magnetophone albums, including "Vladimirskaya Gorka" (1996), "Parus" (2000), "Book of Wanderings," and "Promise of Christmas" (studio "Vostochny Veter," Moscow, sound engineer Alexander Efimov).
He is the author of the poetry collection "Movement of Planets. Good Tidings" (Kyiv, 1993) and co-author of the book "Christian Requirements in Politics" ("Duh i Litera," Kyiv, 1998). Kadenko has also translated books such as Pierre Gripari's "Parisian Tales" ("Duh i Litera," Kyiv, 2000) and Georges Niva's Essays ("Duh i Litera," Kyiv, 2001). He has written the book "Merciless Smoloskyp" ("Yantra," Donetsk, 2001), which was published with the support of Sergei Kuchma (Zaporizhia).
Kadenko's prose and poetry have been published in France, Germany, the United States, and in various anthologies of Russian and world poetry. He has performed on tours in Germany and France.
In 1986, as a member of the Kiev "Club on Moscow Square," Kadenko participated in concert tours in the Chernobyl zone.
