Early Life and Education
Mykola Kostiuk was born in Ukraine and studied economics at the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv from 1980 to 1985. He received a Candidate of Economic Sciences degree in 1991 and is fluent in Serbian, Croatian, and English.

Political Affiliation
Kosyuk was a member of the "Our Ukraine" party and served as a deputy in both the Chernivtsi Regional Council (1994-1998) and Chernivtsi City Council (1998-2002). In 2010, he was elected to the Chernivtsi Regional Council and became chairman of the standing commission for legal issues and anti-corruption activities. Since 2014, he has been the head of the Chernivtsi regional organization of the "Petro Poroshenko Bloc" party.
