Biography of Vladimir Restoin Roitfeld

Vladimir Restoin Roitfeld is an art dealer and curator of the Manhattan-based private trade firm 'Feedback Ltd'. He was born in Paris, France, and is the son of Christian Restoin and Carine Roitfeld, a French journalist and stylist.

Early Life and Education

Vladimir moved to New York City when he was 17 years old, where he studied English and prepared for college. He received his education at the University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts and graduated with a degree in film. After completing university, he worked as a producer's assistant at Paramount Pictures before transitioning to other forms of art.

Art Career

In February 2009, Vladimir organized his first exhibition in New York City, sponsored by Louis Vuitton, who donated around $50,000. The exhibition coincided with Fashion Week and included photographs of Vladimir's friends. Currently, Vladimir Roitfeld and his business partner, Andy Valmorbida, represent several talented artists, including Richard Hambleton and street artist Marquis 'Retna' Lewis. He also promotes the work of French artist Nicolas Pol, a student of Alain Declercq.

Pop-Up Exhibitions and Collaborations

Vladimir Roitfeld is known for his affinity for pop-up exhibitions, which involve showcasing traditional museum exhibitions on mobile stands in industrial spaces. He has organized such exhibitions in New York, Paris, London, and Milan, and has collaborated with the Moscow Museum of Modern Art. Additionally, at the 17th annual Cinema Against Aids amfAR event in Cannes, Roitfeld and Giorgio Armani curated an exhibition featuring Richard Hambleton's artwork. Two pieces donated by Roitfeld and Valmorbida were auctioned off for a total of $920,000.
