Biography of Vladimir Sharapov

Early Life and Education

Vladimir Sharapov was born on March 21, 1914. He completed his education by finishing 10 grades.

Military Career

In 1931, Sharapov joined the Red Army and began his career as a bomber pilot. He attended the Kiev Military Infantry School in 1934, followed by the Military Aviation School in 1935. In 1937, he completed the command staff training courses at the Zhukovsky Military Air Academy.

During the Soviet-Finnish War, Sharapov served as a navigator in the 44th Bomber Squadron of the 55th Bomber Aviation Regiment, part of the 7th Army of the Northwestern Front. By February 1940, he had completed 46 combat sorties, successfully bombing enemy fortifications and causing significant damage to their forces.

On March 21, 1940, Sharapov was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union for his exceptional bravery and service during the war. He continued to serve in the military during the Great Patriotic War.

Later Life

Sharapov became a member of the Communist Party in 1941. In 1956, he graduated from the General Staff Military Academy. He retired from active service in 1971 with the rank of Colonel. Sharapov lived in the town of Monino in the Moscow region. He was decorated with two Orders of Lenin, three Orders of the Red Banner, the Order of the Patriotic War 1st Class, the Order of the Red Star, and several medals for his service to the Soviet Union.
