Early Life and Education

Veniamin Vladimirovich Yurko was born in the town of Oktyabrskoye, Crimea, Ukraine, on June 28, 1934. His family later relocated to Dnipropetrovsk, where he completed high school and embarked on his higher education. In 1957, Yurko graduated from Dnipropetrovsk State University with a degree in engineering and physics.

Professional Career

Following his graduation, Yurko joined the Dnipropetrovsk Machine-Building Plant (then known as Plant No. 933) as an adjuster of radio-electronic equipment for air defense radar systems. His childhood passion for radio sports continued throughout his academic and professional life.

Radio Sports Contributions

Yurko became a Master of Sports of the USSR in radio sports and established a radio club for schoolchildren at the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Youth Technical Station. He served as the coach of Ukraine's national radio sports team and led them to five consecutive victories in the USSR National Championship. His tutelage produced multiple masters of sports, including Ukrainian champions and Svetlana Danilchenko, the absolute champion of the USSR. Yurko was also a Merited Coach of the Ukrainian SSR and an All-Union Category Judge in radio sports.

Later Life

Throughout his life, Yurko remained an ardent volleyball enthusiast. His exceptional contributions to the field of radio sports and his unwavering dedication to youth development left a lasting impact on the world of engineering and technology.
