Biography of Vorovayki
IntroductionThe group "Vorovayki" burst onto the chanson scene in 2000 and has since released 5 albums. Their songs are a mix of bard and pop chanson, leaving no one indifferent and capturing the hearts of many listeners with their simple yet profound lyrics that reflect the soul, pain, and joy of the Russian people.
Formation and Debut
The group Vorovayki was formed in September 1999 by renowned singer, composer, and poet Yuri Almazov and Spartak Arutyunyan. In November of the same year, they released their debut album, immediately winning the hearts of many listeners with their simple yet profound songs.
Rise to Popularity
In February 2001, Vorovayki began actively performing concerts. In September 2001, their second album was released, quickly reaching the 4th spot in cassette and CD sales in the Russian Chanson genre, further elevating the group's popularity. The third album was released in early 2002, followed by a remix compilation of their most popular songs featuring DJ Vasi.
"Black Flowers"
The fourth album, "Black Flowers," was released on November 15, 2002, consisting of 15 new songs. It topped the sales charts for five weeks, solidifying Vorovayki's position in the music industry. However, at the beginning of 2003, one of the authors, S. Arutyunyan, left the group.
Compilation and Continued Success
On July 30, 2003, the group released their first official compilation album titled "Macho," featuring carefully selected songs based on fan voting on the internet. The album included 18 songs and 2 remixes. Their fifth album, "Hold the Thief!" was released on November 18, 2003. A sixth album was released on December 28, 2004.
Current Lineup
As of April 8, 2005, the current lineup of Vorovayki includes Diana Terkulova, Larisa Nadyktova, Natalya Bystrova, Valeriy Lizner on keyboard instruments, Yuri Almazov on keyboard instruments, Dmitry Volkov as the sound engineer, and Dmitry Shpakov as the manager.
