Early Life and College CareerRay Allen was born in Merced, California, and attended Hillcrest High School in Dalzell, South Carolina. As a high school standout, he led his team to a state championship. Allen then honed his skills at the University of Connecticut from 1993 to 1996.
In 1995, Allen earned the accolade of being named the Naismith College Player of the Year. He also represented Team USA at the World University Games in Fukuoka, where he led the team to victory. In his final year at Connecticut, Allen made the All-American First Team and was named Big East Player of the Year.
NBA Career
Allen was selected fifth overall by the Milwaukee Bucks in the 1996 NBA Draft. He played for the Bucks, Seattle SuperSonics, Boston Celtics, and Miami Heat throughout his illustrious career. Primarily known as a shooting guard, Allen was renowned for his exceptional shooting ability, particularly his three-point shooting.
On February 11, 2011, Allen surpassed Reggie Miller as the NBA's all-time leader in three-pointers made. He finished his career with an astonishing 2,973 three-pointers, a record that remains unbroken. In addition to his shooting prowess, Allen was also acknowledged for his sportsmanship, winning the NBA Sportsmanship Award in 2002-03.
Championship Success
Allen tasted NBA championship glory twice. In 2008, he was a member of the Boston Celtics team that triumphed over the Los Angeles Lakers. Five years later, he joined forces with the Miami Heat and helped them secure a second championship against the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2012-13.
