Education and Early Career

Walter Scott Jr. was born in Nebraska, USA. He graduated from Colorado State University with a Bachelor of Science and Arts degree. After completing his studies, he joined his father's construction company, Kiewit Construction (later known as Peter Kiewit Sons).

Company Expansion and Leadership

In 1979, Scott took over the helm of Peter Kiewit Sons and expanded its operations into telecommunications and fiber optics. He also ventured into the energy sector, acquiring power plants. During his tenure, the company experienced significant growth.

Board Positions and Corporate Governance

Currently, Scott serves as Chairman of Level 3 Communications, a spin-off of Peter Kiewit Sons. He also holds board positions with various organizations, including Berkshire Hathaway, Burlington Resources, Commonwealth Telephone Enterprises, Valmont Industries, and Peter Kiewit Sons.
