Wenbo Liang, a Chinese professional snooker player, is considered the second-best snooker player in China after Ding Junhui. He gained recognition in the sport after his impressive performances in various tournaments.
Early Career
In 2005, Liang won the World Championship among players under 21 years old, which earned him an invitation to the main tour. In his debut professional season, he qualified for the British Championship, where he achieved his highest break of 134 points. This accomplishment boosted his ranking to 77th among snooker players.
Rise to Prominence
Liang gained widespread attention when he reached the quarter-finals of the Grand Prix. However, it was at the World Championship where he made a significant breakthrough. He defeated former champion Ken Doherty 10-5 and Joe Swail, causing a sensation in the snooker world. Although Liang lost to Ronnie O'Sullivan in the quarter-finals, he set a national record by becoming the first snooker player from China to reach the quarter-final stage of the World Championship.
