Biography of Wendy Phillips
Wendy Phillips is an American actress who gained fame for her roles as Lauren Daniels, the last wife of Richard Channing in the soap opera "Falcon Crest," and as Claire Greene, the wife of Russell Greene in the series "Touched by an Angel" and its spin-off "Promised Land." She was born on January 2, 1952, in Brooklyn, New York. Both of her parents, Wendell Phillips and Jean Shelton, were actors and acting teachers.
Early Life
When she was a young child, Wendy had to live with her grandmother in Atlanta because her parents were blacklisted during the "witch hunt" era of Senator Joseph McCarthy's anti-communist campaign and were out of work for some time. Wendy's biological brothers, Christian Phillips and Matthew Shelton, also pursued careers in acting. In addition, she has two older stepbrothers from her father's previous marriage.
Marriage and Family
In 1981, Wendy married actor and director Scott Paulin, whom she met through her mother, who was running an acting school in San Francisco at the time. They have a daughter named Jenny Dare Paulin, who also became an actress. Although Scott and Wendy rarely acted together, they played husband and wife in the mini-series "A Year in the Life."
Acting Career
Wendy's acting career began in 1975 when she landed small roles in the television movies "Death Be Not Proud" and "One of Our Own." She gained recognition and in the following year, she appeared in 18 episodes of the drama series "Executive Suite," but it was canceled in 1977. Undeterred, Wendy joined the detective series "The Eddie Capra Mysteries" in 1978, which became one of her breakthrough roles. Since then, her television career has been ongoing.
