Early Life and Career
Born and raised in Brazil, the talented goalkeeper began his football journey with his hometown club, Juventus. At the age of 19, his exceptional skills caught the attention of Corinthians scouts, leading to a contract offer.
Finding His Stride Through Loans
Despite signing with Corinthians, the young goalie faced limited playing opportunities as the team's fourth-choice keeper. To gain valuable experience, he embarked on several loan spells with lower-division clubs. With Oeste, he made 15 appearances in the São Paulo State Championship, while at América in Natal, he featured in 16 Série B matches.
Breakthrough with Botafogo and Portuguesa Desportos
Seeking regular playing time, the goalkeeper departed Corinthians in 2010 and joined Botafogo of Ribeirão Preto. There, he played 22 games in the state championship. Later that year, he moved to Portuguesa Desportos in Série B. During the 2011 season, he emerged as a key player, making 38 appearances and securing promotion to Série A with the team.
Making His Mark in the Top Flight
On May 20, 2012, the goalkeeper made his Série A debut in a match against Palmeiras. The following month, his contract with Portuguesa expired, and he signed with Atlético Paranaense, also in Série A. Over the subsequent seasons, he established himself as the team's first-choice keeper. In 2013, he led the club to the Copa do Brasil final. He also made appearances in the Copa Libertadores and Copa Sudamericana.
Rise to Captaincy and Olympic Recognition
The goalkeeper's consistency and leadership qualities saw him appointed as Atlético Paranaense's captain in 2014. In 2016, he received a significant honor when he was included in Brazil's Olympic squad as a replacement for the injured Fernando Prass.
