Early Life and Career
Alexander Samedov was born on July 19, 1984, in Moscow to an Azerbaijani father and a Russian mother. He joined the Spartak Moscow youth academy and made his senior debut for the club in 2004.
Transfer to Lokomotiv Moscow
In 2005, Samedov was sold to Lokomotiv Moscow for €3.4 million. He scored the last goal for Lokomotiv in the Champions League against Rapid Vienna in 2005.
Moscow and Return to Lokomotiv
Samedov joined FC Moscow in 2008 and returned to Lokomotiv Moscow in 2012. He became a Russian Master of Sports in 2009.
Homecoming to Spartak Moscow
In 2017, Samedov returned to his boyhood club Spartak Moscow after 12 years. He had been an important player for the club in his early career and expressed his delight at the opportunity to finish his career at Spartak.
National Team Career
Samedov was frequently approached by Azerbaijan to play for their national team, but he always declined. He received his first call-up to the Russian national team in 2011 and later represented them at the 2014 World Cup and the 2016 European Championship.
