Early Life and Resistance ActivitiesBorn on October 9, 1930, in Kielce, Poland, Wiesław Gołas was the son of a military officer. His father, Teofil, fought in the September Campaign of 1939 against the German forces. After Poland's defeat, he went into hiding but was captured and died in the Majdanek concentration camp.
As a schoolboy, Wiesław joined the Polish resistance movement, "Szare Szeregi." In 1944, he was arrested by the Gestapo and imprisoned.
Theatrical Career
After the war, Gołas studied at the Theatre Academy, graduating in 1954. As a student of the renowned actor Aleksander Zelwerowicz, he honed his skills.
His debut came at the Lower Silesian Theatre in Jelenia Góra. He then joined the Warsaw Dramatic Theater (1955-1985) and later the Polish Theater (1985-1992).
Comedic Genius
Gołas excelled in comedic roles, creating memorable characters on stage and screen. He was a co-founder of the Kabaret Kon and a member of the Kabaret Dudek. His rendition of the song "Jedziemy do Polski" by Jerzy Wasowski and Wojciech Młynarski became a beloved anthem.
In his later years, he performed in the "Cabaret Gentlemen of Age," showcasing his versatility and comedic timing.
