Lagus gained prominence in the legal realm for his "History of the Turku Court of Appeals" (1834). This comprehensive study provided valuable insights into the legal system of his time. Another notable legal work by Lagus was the collection and publication of historical documents related to the Finnish church in his "Acts for the History of the Finnish Church" (1836-1850).

Historical Contributions

Lagus's historical research delved into various aspects of Finnish history. His exploration of the origins of the Karelian Lagman District in "Study on the Origin of the Karelian Lagman District" (1844) provided new perspectives on the region's legal and social structures. In addition, he contributed to the understanding of the Russo-Swedish War of 1741-1742 with "Notes to the History of the Finnish War of 1741-42."
