A $5 Million Lottery Win
In a stroke of luck, William Williams and Michelle Concepcion became instant millionaires when they purchased a $20 lottery ticket in New York City. The couple bought the ticket at C&N Liquor in the Bronx after needing to break a $100 bill. "I had to get change for perfume money," William recalled. "So I went to play the lottery. I chose Fortune because I won $700 on it before."
A Lucky Mistake
A Michigan resident accidentally made a mistake in his lottery numbers and ended up winning $100,000. The man from Tuscola County purchased a Fantasy 5 ticket and mistakenly chose 29 instead of 28. "I usually play 04-14-28-30-31, but this time I picked 29 instead of 28," he said. "Instead of changing it, I decided to leave it. I'm glad I did."
A $30 Ticket That Led to $5 Million
Amerinda Quintana, a 64-year-old Brooklyn resident, had a moment of disbelief when she discovered she had won millions of dollars. "I was screaming inside," she said. "But I kept it quiet. One lady asked me if I won anything, and I said, 'No, no, no.'" After taxes, Quintana received a lump sum of $3,165,200. She plans to use the money to help her children and enjoy a comfortable retirement. "I just want to live my life and not care what anybody thinks," Quintana said. "Why keep it in the bank when you need to spend it?"
