Wilmar Barrios: A Promising Colombian Midfielder
Early CareerWilmar Barrios commenced his footballing journey at Deportes Tolima. He made his debut in the Copa Mustang on February 24, 2013, against Boyacá Chicó. In 2014, Barrios lifted the Copa Colombia trophy with Tolima. His first goal for the club came on May 17, 2015, against Jaguares de Córdoba.
Move to Boca Juniors
Barrios joined the Argentine powerhouse Boca Juniors in the summer of 2015 for a transfer fee of €2.7 million. He made his Argentine Primera Division debut on October 29 against Temperley, replacing Pablo Perez in the second half. His maiden goal for Boca Juniors came on December 11 in a match against Estudiantes de La Plata. Barrios played a pivotal role in Boca Juniors' championship victory in 2017.
International Career
Barrios represented Colombia at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro as part of the Olympic team. He featured in matches against Sweden, Japan, Nigeria, and Brazil.
On September 7, 2018, Barrios made his senior debut for the Colombian national team in a World Cup 2018 qualifier against Brazil.
