Wim Addicks was a renowned Dutch footballer who made a significant impact on Amsterdam's football scene.
Early Career at Ajax
Born in Amsterdam in 1897, Addicks began his professional career with AFC Ajax. He made his debut against Blauw Wit on September 17, 1922, contributing to a 4-0 victory. In the 1922/1923 season, he emerged as Ajax's top scorer with 14 goals in 22 matches.
National Team Debut and Success
Addicks' impressive performances earned him a call-up to the Netherlands national team. He made his international debut against France on April 2, 1923, scoring two goals in an 8-1 triumph. He recorded two goals in three matches for the Oranje, concluding his international career with a 0-0 draw against Germany on May 10, 1923.
Career at De Meer and AFC
After departing Ajax, Addicks joined De Meer, another Amsterdam-based club. He spent the majority of his career there, showcasing his attacking prowess and helping the team achieve success.
Return to Ajax and Retirement
In later years, Addicks rejoined Ajax. Despite not featuring regularly, he remained a valuable member of the club. He ended his professional career with a match against Hermes DVS on April 19, 1931.
