Timo Werner: German Prodigy

Early Career

Timo Werner's footballing journey began in the youth ranks of SV Steinhaldenfeld and VfB Stuttgart. As a member of Stuttgart's U-19 squad, he emerged as the top scorer of the South/Southwest division during the 2012/13 season. His impressive performance earned him a promotion to the club's senior team the following season.

Stuttgart Debut

Werner made his senior debut for Stuttgart on August 1, 2013, in a UEFA Europa League qualifier against Botev Plovdiv. At just 17 years, 4 months, and 26 days old, he became the club's youngest-ever debutant. He then featured in his first DFB-Pokal match against Berliner Dynamo three days later.

Bundesliga Breakthrough

Werner's Bundesliga debut came on August 17, 2013, against Bayer Leverkusen. He scored his maiden Bundesliga goal on September 22 of the same year against Eintracht Frankfurt. On November 10, he netted a brace against SC Freiburg, becoming the youngest player to score a double in a Bundesliga match.

Move to RB Leipzig

Following Stuttgart's relegation to the 2. Bundesliga in 2016, Werner joined RB Leipzig on a four-year contract. With his new club, he finished as a Bundesliga runner-up in 2016/17 and placed fourth in the league's scoring charts.

International Debut

Werner represented Germany at various youth levels. In 2012, he participated in the UEFA European Under-17 Championship. On March 17, 2017, Joachim Löw handed him his senior international debut against England. He followed it up with another appearance against Azerbaijan on March 26.

Success with the Die Mannschaft

Werner scored his first goals for Germany on June 25, 2017, against Cameroon in the Confederations Cup. He was named Man of the Match for his performance. At the tournament, he became the only player to score two goals in a group stage match.
