Wim Volkers was born on October 3, 1899, in Amsterdam, Netherlands. He began playing football in the city's youth system before joining AFC Ajax in 1923.

Football Prowess

As an Ajax striker, Volkers made a significant impact. He played 265 campionato matches for the club, scoring 129 goals. He became the team's top scorer in two seasons: 1924/1925 and 1928/1929. Volkers also helped Ajax win three Eredivisie titles.

International Career

Volkers earned seven caps for the Netherlands national team and scored two goals. He made his debut in 1924 and played in friendly matches until 1932.

Ajax Coaching and Administration

After retiring as a player, Volkers returned to Ajax in various roles. He served as caretaker manager from 1941 to 1942 and was club president from 1956 to 1958. As treasurer, he played a key role in the club's finances during World War II.

Later Life and Legacy

Volkers passed away on January 3, 1990, at the age of 90. He is remembered as a skilled and dedicated footballer who made significant contributions to AFC Ajax both on and off the field.
