Dutch Percussion Maestro
Marco Blaauw is a renowned Dutch percussionist who has left an indelible mark on the world of music.
Early Life and Education
Born in the Netherlands, Marco Blaauw developed a passion for percussion at a young age. He honed his skills at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague under the tutelage of esteemed percussionist Frans van der Kraan.
Orchestral Career
After graduating, Blaauw joined the prestigious Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra. Later, he moved to the Hague Residentie Orchestra, where he played for several years, captivating audiences with his exceptional talent.
Teaching and Leadership
In 1986, Blaauw joined the faculty of the Royal Conservatory of The Hague. He served as its Director from 2006 to 2008, inspiring a new generation of percussionists.
Percussion Ensembles
Marco Blaauw played a pivotal role in the establishment of two renowned percussion ensembles. In 1977, he co-founded Slagwerkgroep Den Haag (The Hague Percussion Group), where he performed for over a decade.
Anumadutchi
In 1992, Blaauw founded another ensemble, Anumadutchi. This group has become known for its innovative programming and international collaborations. To this day, Blaauw continues to perform with Anumadutchi, showcasing his versatility and dedication to percussion.
