Early Life and Club Career

Born in Gjilan, Kosovo, to Kosovar Albanian parents, Xherdan Shaqiri moved to Switzerland in 1992 with his family. He started his youth career at Augst before joining Basel's youth team. At 15, he emerged as a standout player in the Nike Cup tournament, attracting the attention of multiple clubs. Shaqiri ultimately remained with Basel. In 2009, he signed his first professional contract and made his debut for the senior team against St. Gallen. He scored his first goal for Basel against Xamax in November.

Move to Bayern Munich

In February 2012, Shaqiri signed a four-year contract with Bayern Munich, effective July 1st. Playing under the number 11, he helped Bayern win multiple Bundesliga titles, the DFB-Pokal, the UEFA Champions League, and other trophies.

International Debut and Success

Shaqiri made his senior international debut for Switzerland in 2010. He participated in the 2010 World Cup, becoming one of the tournament's youngest players. In 2014, he scored a hat-trick against Honduras in the World Cup, earning him the Man of the Match award. He also played in the 2016 European Championship, scoring a memorable goal against Poland in the Round of 16.

Later Club Career

In 2015, Shaqiri joined Inter Milan after rejecting an offer from Liverpool. However, he did not find the same success in Italy. Later that year, he moved to Stoke City in the English Premier League.

Personal Life

Shaqiri is a practicing Muslim. Aside from football, he is an avid beatboxer.
