Early Career and Professional DebutAndrew Johnson, an English football player recognized as a striker, began his footballing journey as a youth product of Luton Town. He later signed with Birmingham City, making his debut in September 1998. Johnson faced an unforgettable moment at the 2000/01 League Cup Final against Liverpool, where he missed the decisive penalty shootout.
Rise at Crystal Palace
In the summer of 2002, Johnson joined Crystal Palace. He emerged as a prominent striker, becoming the leading goalscorer in the First Division during the 2003/04 season. The following season, 2004/05, he reached the pinnacle of his scoring abilities, ranking second only to Thierry Henry in the Premier League goalscoring charts. Johnson's contributions, including 11 goals via penalty kicks, were not enough to prevent Crystal Palace from relegation.
Post-Palace Career
After a solitary season in the Championship, Johnson moved to Everton. Despite spending two seasons with the Merseyside club, he recorded only 17 league goals. His next destination was Fulham, where he enjoyed a memorable run to the 2009/10 Europa League Final.
International Appearances
Johnson represented England at the youth level, participating in the 1999 FIFA World Youth Championship, where England finished bottom of their group. His senior international debut came against the Netherlands in February 2005. In total, he featured in 8 matches for England, but failed to find the back of the net.
