A Chinese Man with Craniofacial Hyperplasia
Today, the appearance of a 53-year-old Chinese farmer named Xia Yuanhai is truly astonishing. Above all, his face resembles the image of an alien from Hollywood movies. Xia Yuanhai was born completely normal, with a human face. However, during his adolescence, he was struck by hyperplasia - a condition that causes excessive growth of certain tissues. In Yuanhai's case, the bone tissue in his head grew abnormally, resulting in a widening of his face and a change in proportions. Medically speaking, his face became hypertrophied, making him look like an alien. He currently resides in Laotu village in Chongqing, southwestern China.
Dreaming of Looking Like a Human
Prior to his current appearance, Xia Yuanhai had never sought medical help or treatment for his condition. However, now at the age of 53, he has become concerned about his appearance and desires to look more like a human. Together with his older brother, he is raising funds for treatment, as reported by the British newspaper The Sun. His dream is to metaphorically "return to Earth" by undergoing plastic surgery.
