Early Life and InfluencesYan Zi, born in Chengdu, China, was introduced to tennis at the age of six by her mother. Despite her parents not playing the sport themselves, she displayed a remarkable talent from an early age. Her idol was the renowned Jimmy Connors.
Tennis Career
In her teenage years, Yan Zi joined the Sichuan provincial team. Her exceptional skills led her to study at the prestigious Nick's Tennis School in the United States from 1999 to 2001. Upon her return to China in 2001, she became a member of the Chinese national team.
Partnership with Zheng Jie
Yan Zi found success in doubles, partnering with fellow Chinese player Zheng Jie. In 2006, they triumphed at the Australian Open and Wimbledon, becoming the first Chinese pair to win a Grand Slam doubles title.
Olympic Success
Yan Zi and Zheng Jie continued their dominance in doubles, securing a bronze medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. This achievement cemented their status as one of China's most successful tennis duos.
Personal Life
