Janusz Leon Wisniewski is a renowned writer and a doctor of chemical sciences who currently resides in Frankfurt, Germany. He was born in Torun, People's Republic of Poland (PNR).
From Sailor to Doctor
Wisniewski began his career as a sailor in the fishing fleet before pursuing higher education. He successfully completed his studies at the university, earning a doctorate in informatics and later a doctorate in chemical sciences. His expertise lies in the field of molecular biology.
A Successful Debut
Wisniewski gained widespread recognition with his debut novel, "Loneliness on the Net" (Polish: S@motnosć w Sieci). The book tells the story of a virtual love that becomes a reality. It spent three years on the bestseller lists in Poland, selling approximately 300,000 copies. The novel has undergone numerous reprints, including additions based on discussions with readers on internet forums. In 2006, the book was adapted into a film in Poland, with Wisniewski himself playing a small role. "Loneliness on the Net" delves into the emotions and experiences of its characters. Although the novel, like all of Wisniewski's books, is based on real events, the author admits to idealizing the characters.
Literature as a Hobby
Literature serves as a hobby for Wisniewski and reflects much of his scientific life, although he considers science his main occupation. He has two daughters, whom he holds in high regard. Wisniewski once said, "In my life, there are only two most significant women - my elder daughter and my younger daughter."
