Biography of Yasser Amarath

Yasser Amarath, an Arab mercenary who fought in Chechnya on the side of the separatists from 2001 to 2002. He gained recognition as a prominent Arab volunteer from Africa who joined the conflict in Chechnya in 2003. Amarath, hailing from Sudan, was a member of the State Defense Committee - Majlisul Shura of the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria.

Fierce Commander and Candidate for Leadership

According to Arkady Yedeliev, the head of the Operational Headquarters in the North Caucasus, the black-skinned "Yasser" arrived in Chechnya in 2003 and became one of the most dangerous field commanders. After the elimination of Abu Hafs, he emerged as one of the candidates for the position of the 4th Amir of the foreign detachment, but ultimately lost to Muhanad.

Operations in Southern Chechnya

From 2007 to 2009, Yasser operated in the southern part of Chechnya. After Muhanad was appointed as the fourth Amir of the foreign detachment, Yasser led the remnants of the Abu Hafs formation and came under Muhanad's command.

Death and Legacy

Yasser Amarath was ultimately killed in a special operation conducted by Chechen security forces in the Veden district of Chechnya on June 8, 2010. Ramzan Kadyrov confirmed his death on June 11, stating that the "death of Yasser has been legally confirmed." Vahid Usmaev, who was responsible for his elimination, was awarded the title of Hero of Russia.

Controversial Death and Last Video Message

Some militants claimed that Yasser and his entire group were poisoned through food and died before being discovered by the Kadyrovtsy. Shortly before his death, Yasser managed to record a final video message where he expressed a sense of impending death, as some members of his group had already died.
