Ermukhamet Ertysbayev
Ermukhamet Ertysbayev is a distinguished Kazakh statesman and diplomat.
Education and Academia:
Born in Kazakhstan, Ertysbayev earned a doctorate in political science and became a professor. He began his career in 1978 as an assistant at Dzhezkazgan Pedagogical Institute and later pursued scientific and educational pursuits.
Political Career:
Parliamentary and Party Leadership:In 1990-1994, Ertysbayev became a deputy in the Supreme Council of the Republic and subsequently served as Secretary of the Political Executive Committee of the Socialist Party of Kazakhstan and as an advisor to the President of Kazakhstan.
Director of Kazakhstan Institute of Strategic Studies:
From 1998, he took the helm of the Kazakhstan Institute of Strategic Studies, a prominent think tank.
Presidential Advisor and Minister:
In 2000, Ertysbayev was appointed Chief of a Department in the Administration of the President of Kazakhstan and later elevated to Presidential Advisor in 2002.
Minister of Culture and Information:
On January 18, 2006, President of Kazakhstan appointed Ertysbayev as Minister of Culture, Information, and Sports. In March 2006, the Ministry was divided into separate entities, and he was appointed Minister of Culture and Information.
Scandal and Resignation:
Ertysbayev's tenure as Minister was marked by controversies in the press. He was subsequently relieved of his position and appointed as an advisor to the President on May 12, 2008.
Diplomatic Appointment:
Ambassador to Georgia:Following his departure from the Ministry, Ertysbayev was appointed Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Georgia, a position he held from 2006 to 2008.
