Isaac Aharonovich: Israeli Politician and Military Officer
Isaac Aharonovich is an Israeli politician who served as a member of the Knesset for the Yisrael Beiteinu party. He is known for his military and law enforcement career prior to entering politics.
Early Life and Education
Born on August 22, 1950, in Jerusalem, Isaac Aharonovich spent most of his life in the village of Dishon in northern Israel. He graduated from the University of Haifa with a bachelor's degree in history.
Military and Police Career
Aharonovich served in the Israeli Defense Forces paratroopers, rising to the rank of lieutenant colonel. After his military service, he joined the Israeli police, where he held various leadership positions. From 1993 to 1995, he commanded the Border Police. He also represented the police in the United States and served as commander of the Judea and Samaria Police District and the Southern District. From 2002 to 2004, he was Deputy Inspector General of Police.
Business Career
After leaving the police, Aharonovich served as the CEO of the Dan public transportation company from 2004 to 2005.
Political Career
Aharonovich entered politics in 2006, when he was elected to the 17th Knesset as a member of Yisrael Beiteinu. He served in the Knesset until 2009.
Personal Life
Isaac Aharonovich is married and has four children. He resides in Even Yehuda, a city in central Israel.
