Biography of Yoann Cabaye
Early Life and CareerYoann Cabaye was born on January 14, 1986, in Tourcoing, Nord department, France. His father, Didier Cabaye, was a former football player who currently works in healthcare in Roubaix. At the age of 16, Didier played for Racing Club de Lens, a professional football club, but a double leg fracture put an end to his professional career. However, he continued to play in local amateur clubs and taught his sons how to play football. Yoann also has a younger brother, Geoffrey Cabaye, who plays football at an amateur level.
Cabaye's early football career was associated with Tourcoing FC, a local amateur club. Even though he was too young to officially train with the club's youth team, his father worked at the club, and he was allowed to attend the training sessions. Yoann spent about seven years training with the youth team of Tourcoing before catching the attention of Lille OSC, a professional club, where he continued his development.
In July 1998, at the age of twelve, Yoann signed with Lille's youth team and quickly progressed through their academy. In the 2003-2004 season, Cabaye played for Lille's reserve team in the Championnat de France amateur, the fourth level of French football. He appeared in 10 matches and scored one goal in his first season with the team. The following season, he played for both the reserve team and the first team, featuring in 15 matches and scoring two goals for the reserves, helping them finish second in their group and qualify for the playoffs.
In the lead-up to the 2004-2005 season, Cabaye signed his first professional contract with Lille, marking the beginning of his promising career. He spent six years in Lille's academy before making his professional debut in the 2004-2005 season when Lille won the 2004 UEFA Intertoto Cup. The following season, he regularly appeared on the field and participated in the UEFA Champions League under the guidance of coach Claude Puel. International Career
Cabaye's international career started with the French youth national teams. He represented France at various levels, including the Under-16, Under-18, Under-19, Under-20, and Under-21 teams. In August 2010, he received his first call-up to the senior national team under the new coach Laurent Blanc. Cabaye made his debut on August 11, 2010, in a friendly match against Norway, which France lost 2-1. He continues to represent France at the international level.
Current Career
In June 2011, after the end of the season, Cabaye joined Newcastle United, an English football club, signing a five-year contract. He has been an integral part of the team, playing as a midfielder and showcasing his excellent ball control, situational awareness on the field, and impeccable technique. Cabaye is also known for his penalty-taking abilities. He wears the number '4' for Newcastle United and the number '6' for the French national team.
