Soviet Dissident and Refusenik

During the 1970s and 1980s, the individual organized and taught Hebrew study groups in the Soviet Union, despite the inherent danger in doing so. These groups were established in 45 cities.

Leadership in Jewish Organizations

In 1989, the individual was elected to the board of the Solomon Mikhoels Soviet Center of Jewish Culture.

Emigration to Israel and Political Involvement

In 1989, the individual immigrated to Israel and established the Democracy and Aliyah party in the early 1990s. Several party members later joined and became leaders of the popular Russian-speaking party, Yisrael Beytenu.

Partnership with Likud

Subsequently, the individual became a member of the Likud party and led its department for immigration and absorption.

Current Leadership

Presently, the individual serves as the head of the Zionist Majority Movement.
