Biography of Yuriy Susloparov

Yuriy Susloparov was a Soviet football player, known for his skills as a defender and midfielder. He was born in Kharkiv, Ukrainian SSR.

Early Years and Career

Susloparov started playing football in his school years, participating in the local tournaments as a member of the neighborhood team "Ivanchik". At the age of 11, he joined the youth sports school affiliated with Kharkiv's "Metalist" football club, where he was trained by Alexander Azarov. Under Azarov's guidance, Susloparov developed his technical skills and tactical approach to the game.

Initially, Susloparov played as a right forward, but later switched to the position of a central midfielder. He made his debut in the first team in 1976, playing for "Karpaty" Lviv, which was competing in the top Soviet league. He spent five seasons with the team, which was moving between the first and top leagues during that time.

International Success and Later Career

In 1980, Susloparov was recognized as a Master of Sports of International Class and became a champion of Europe with the Soviet youth team. He played a crucial role in the team's victory, scoring the decisive goal.

After his successful performance in the youth championship, Susloparov transferred to Moscow's "Torpedo" team, where he played for five seasons. He later joined "Spartak" Moscow, where he won two Soviet championships and a bronze medal.

Susloparov had plans to move to England in 1989, but due to a serious injury, he postponed the transfer and decided to continue playing for "Spartak" until the end of the season. Unfortunately, his career was cut short by the injury, but he remained involved in football.

In 1992, Susloparov became a player-coach for the team "Veres" in Rovno, Ukraine. He later joined Moscow's "Krasnogvardeets" team. In 2002, he briefly coached the Bangladeshi team "Abahani" and led them to win the championship.

International Career and Legacy

Susloparov represented the Soviet Union national team on seven occasions, playing in 1981 and 1982. He even participated in the FIFA World Cup in Spain and faced the Brazilian team.

On May 28, 2012, Yuriy Susloparov passed away at the age of 54. Throughout his career, he played 224 matches in the Soviet championships and scored 21 goals. He is remembered as a talented football player and a dedicated coach.
