Biography of Yuri Kim
Yuri Kim was a Kazakhstani statesman who served as the Chairman of the Constitutional Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan from 1996 to 2000. He was born in the Taldy-Kurgan region.
Early Life and Education
Yuri Kim completed his education at the Faculty of Law of the Kazakh State University named after S.M. Kirov in 1966.
Career in Justice
Kim started his career as an investigator in the internal affairs agencies and later worked as a judge in the city of Almaty. He dedicated 15 years of his professional life to the justice system, holding positions ranging from Deputy Chief of the city's Department of Justice to the First Deputy Minister of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Political Engagement
In 1994, Yuri Kim was elected as a deputy of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan and became the chairman of a committee. The following year, he served as the Chairman of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Chairmanship of the Constitutional Council
In February 1996, Yuri Kim was appointed as the Chairman of the Constitutional Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan, a position he held until his passing in December 2000.
Contributions and Legacy
Yuri Kim was not only an influential statesman but also a prolific writer. He authored several scientific publications in the field of jurisprudence. In honor of his contributions, a street in Almaty was named after him, previously known as Studencheskaya Street.
