Early Life and Political Rise
Stanisław Zenowicz, an influential statesman in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania during the 15th and early 16th centuries, hailed from the noble lineage of the Zenowicz family. His political career began in 1495, when he assumed the office of voivode of Braslaw.
Diplomatic Missions and Administrative Roles
Zenowicz's diplomatic abilities were recognized early on. In 1495, he served as part of Grand Duke Alexander's embassy to Moscow, where he sought the hand of Princess Elena, the daughter of Ivan III. In 1503, he again represented the Grand Duchy in negotiations with Moscow.
From 1507 to 1508, Zenowicz held the position of voivode of Smolensk, a strategic border province. In 1514, he became voivode of Mogilev, a major commercial and administrative center.
Royal Service and Landholdings
In 1516, Zenowicz rose to prominence as the marshal of the court of Grand Duke Sigismund I the Old. This prestigious role brought him into close contact with the royal family.
Zenowicz amassed significant wealth and landholdings during his lifetime. He owned the towns of Smorgoni, Postavy, Glubokoye, Churlen, and Vishnev.
Marriage and Family
Stanisław Zenowicz was married to a member of the Ostikowicz family. Together, they had four sons: Nikolai, Yuri, Mikhail, and Ivan.
Later Years and Legacy
After 1516, Zenowicz's name disappears from historical documents. His legacy as a skilled diplomat, capable administrator, and prominent statesman endures in the annals of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania.
