Alain Marcoen is a Belgian cinematographer known for his work in Belgium, Germany, France, and the United States. Born from a German-Hungarian mother and an American-Belgian father, he studied photography in Brussels from 1981 to 1983, earning a prize for his photo portraits in 1982. Prior to embarking on his cinematic career, Marcoen played in the cult punk band Cherokee. He later graduated from the Institut National Supérieur des Arts du Spectacle (INSAS) in 1986.
