Biography of Zak Baird
Zak Baird is a keyboardist and pianist, currently collaborating with the band Korn. He is known for using Robert Moog synthesizers in his work.
Education and Early Career
Zak Baird graduated from Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts in Dallas, Texas. This school has also produced other notable artists such as musicians Eddie Brickell, Erykah Badu, jazz musician Roy Hargrove, and singer Nora Jones.
His first project was the band BillyGoat, which he joined in 1990 and remained a member of for six years. During this time, Zak also founded several other projects and bands.
Collaborations and Influences
Baird has collaborated with musicians from various genres, including Eddie Brickell, Everlast, Evanescence (programming for their debut album Fallen), Colin Hay, Daniel Powter, Mike Dillon, and Stone Gossard.
He auditioned for Nine Inch Nails, describing the experience as strange. He also auditioned for Grammy-winning alternative artist Beck and described it as a very powerful impression.
In 2005, Zak Baird toured Europe with pop singer and pianist Daniel Powter.
Work with Korn
Recently, Zak Baird has worked with the band Korn, touring with them worldwide for their album See You on the Other Side. During performances, he hides his face behind a horse mask. He also temporarily joined the band for the recording of their eighth studio album.
His collaboration with Korn and his previous projects have showcased his versatility as a musician.
On December 9, 2006, Baird performed with Korn at the MTV Unplugged concert, playing the piano.
